    Questions about sayWELL

What sayWELL does, what caregivers receive between sessions, how clinics get started, and where the clinical boundaries sit.

    For clinics and providers

    What is between-session care?
Between-session care is the support a child receives from the adults in their life between therapy visits, guided by the goals their providers set. It covers the other 167 hours of the week, when skills from the clinic are practiced, or not, at home. Read more in our guide to between-session care.
    Does sayWELL support value-based care?
sayWELL documents what happens between visits (guidance sent, whether caregivers used it, and their feedback), giving clinics a record of care between sessions.
    What is sayWELL?
sayWELL is between-session care for pediatric clinics. A provider sets a goal after a session, sayWELL turns it into a Daily Moment (SAY, DO, WHY) for every caregiver in the child's life, and what caregivers report comes back to the care team.
    Who is sayWELL for?
Pediatric speech, occupational, behavioral and neurodevelopmental clinics, and the families they serve. Clinics bring sayWELL to their families and providers direct the guidance. Early access opens in small groups.
How do we bring sayWELL to our clinic?
Request a walkthrough on our For Clinics page or email hello@say-well.com. We set up your clinic and providers; providers then invite families.
How much work is this for a therapist?
A provider sets the goal with a voice note or a few typed words. One note becomes nearly a month of distinct daily guidance, so clinical judgment stays with the clinician and the repetitive translation work does not.
    What can our clinic see?
Everything that happens between visits: every piece of guidance sent, whether each caregiver used it, and the ratings and notes caregivers leave. It builds into a record of each child's care over time.
What happens when a child sees multiple disciplines?
sayWELL creates one plan for the whole child. Goals from each provider are combined into single daily moments. For example, a fine motor goal from OT and a language goal from speech can be practiced together at snack time. Every provider sees what caregivers report.
What do providers see back from home?
Caregivers log what happened when they tried the Daily Moment. That comes back to the provider before the next appointment, so session time goes to what needs work instead of reconstructing the week.
Why does sayWELL talk about 167 hours?
A weekly therapy session is roughly one hour. The remaining 167 hours of the week are where a child's routines actually happen. sayWELL exists to make those hours usable for the caregivers carrying the therapy plan.
    Does sayWELL replace an EHR?
No. An electronic health record documents what happened inside the clinic. sayWELL covers what happens between visits and returns that information to the care team before the next session.

    For caregivers

What does the DO / SAY / WHY format mean?
DO is the specific action a caregiver can take in an ordinary moment. SAY is the exact wording to use. WHY is the short clinical rationale, so caregivers understand the purpose rather than following instructions blindly.
How much time does this take each day?
One Daily Moment, used inside a routine you already have — a meal, getting dressed, a car ride. It is designed to add no separate practice block to a family's schedule.
Can caregivers ask their clinic to use sayWELL?
Yes. If you think sayWELL could help your family, you can send your therapist or clinic a short introduction directly from the sayWELL website.
    Can caregivers use sayWELL directly?
Yes. Families can join the priority waitlist now; early access opens in small groups. With access, each family gets one Daily Moment a day built from their focus areas, routines and what has worked, shared with everyone in their care circle. Connecting a clinician is optional and can happen anytime.
    Is sayWELL therapy?
No. sayWELL does not diagnose, replace therapy, or provide autonomous clinical care. It helps turn the context around everyday care into practical Say / Do / Why guidance and can incorporate clinician guidance when a provider is connected.
    Can I invite my therapist?
Yes. If you already work with a therapist or provider, you can introduce them to sayWELL so clinical guidance and structured home feedback can become part of the same loop.
Where does the guidance come from?
From family and clinical context. Caregiver-started guidance draws on your focus areas, observations, routines and preferences. Clinical guidance is incorporated when a clinician is connected.
Does sayWELL work for families with two households?
Yes. Every caregiver invited to the child's care circle receives the same Daily Moment, in either home, so both households carry the same plan.
Can grandparents, nannies, and co-parents get the Daily Moment too?
Yes. Every caregiver invited to the child's care circle receives the same Daily Moment, which is the point — consistency across adults usually matters more than intensity from any one adult.
What if a strategy does not work for my child?
Log what happened. A short, honest note that something failed is clinically useful, and it reaches the provider before the next session so the plan can be adjusted rather than repeated.
What if my child refuses to participate?
Resistance often means the moment feels like a test. Modeling the target yourself, without requiring a response, usually keeps the interaction going. Persistent refusal is worth raising with your child's therapist.
How do I know whether it is working?
Look at patterns over a week or two rather than judging day to day, and share those patterns with your provider. Progress in daily function is rarely visible in a single interaction.
Is sayWELL for children with ADHD, autism or other neurodivergent needs?
Many families in speech, occupational and behavioral therapy have children with ADHD, autism, sensory differences or other neurodivergent needs. sayWELL does not diagnose or treat any condition. It carries the goals your child's providers set, or your family's own focus areas, into everyday routines.
Who can join the caregiver waitlist?
Any parent or caregiver in the U.S. can join. Early access opens in small groups. Each family gets one Daily Moment a day, shared with everyone in their care circle, and can connect their child's clinician anytime.

    Privacy and data

    Is sayWELL HIPAA compliant?
sayWELL is built for regulated environments and is HIPAA-compliant and BAA-ready, with privacy-by-design and zero-retention PHI redaction at the core of the platform.
    What data does sayWELL capture?
The guidance sent, whether a caregiver tried it, and the ratings and notes they choose to share. It is visible to the child's care team. See our privacy policy for details.
Do caregivers need an account to receive the Daily Moment?
Yes. Through a clinic, caregivers are invited into a child's care circle and set up their account from that invitation. Families joining directly will create their own account when we open.

    Clinical boundaries

Is sayWELL therapy or medical advice?
No. sayWELL supports everyday caregiving moments. With a clinic, it carries a plan set by a licensed provider into daily life. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a crisis service.
    Can caregiver strategies replace therapy?
No. Caregiver strategies support everyday moments; they do not replace assessment or treatment by a qualified professional. If you have concerns about your child's development, talk with your pediatrician or a licensed provider.
When should I seek professional help for my child?
Speak with your pediatrician or treating provider when difficulties persist, worsen, or interfere with school, friendships, or family life, or if your child loses skills they previously had. If a child expresses thoughts of harming themselves or others, seek urgent help — in the United States, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day by call or text.
Does sayWELL generate clinical content automatically?
sayWELL uses technology to turn clinical guidance into everyday language. Caregiver-started guidance draws on the family's own context; when a clinician is connected, each Daily Moment also carries the goals that provider set. sayWELL does not diagnose, set treatment plans, or replace clinical judgment.
